It is about a 5 minute drive from the mainline railway station, or about a 17-20 min walk, with limited parking onsite provided for free, and the Rivermead Leisure Complex is available directly opposite for overflow parking on a pay and display basis; take your receipt stub to the casino for a partial reimbursement.
There is also a Premier Inn and Crowne Plaza a couple of minutes walk away on the same road.
The casino is open 7 days a week, with Live Gaming open from 12pm to 6am, and 24 hours a day for Slots and Electronic Roulette!

SLOTS & ELECTRONIC
The Genting Club, Reading houses the usual (max) 20 slot machines allowed for casinos of this size in the UK.
These include IGT multi-game terminals where some terminals are linked to the Fort Knox progressive jackpots, ranging from £50 up to £20,000, and some stand alone mulit-game IGT slot machines. There are also a number of Novomatic multi-game slots. Again some of these are linked to a progressive jackpot called ‘Power link Slots’ where jackpots could also reach £20,000. Again, there are some stand alone multi-game Novoline slots. The top jackpot prizes can be won on any size bet.
The slots advertise a fairly generous payout percentage: machines linked to a progressive advertise 92%, and the stand alone machine advertise 94% (March 2015).
This casino is also equipped with a number of electronic roulette terminals. They offer the chance to bet against one of the two automated roulette wheels, or some of the live roulette tables which is streamed to your terminal.
The Genting Club, Reading offers players a number of blackjack tables, 3 card poker and roulette.
The blackjack table can be played from £2 depending on the day of the week and time of the day. They also offer a variety of side bets including ‘Blackjack-Aces’ where for as little as a £1 side bet, you could hit it big! Basically, when playing this bet, you have to be dealt only aces, in sequence starting with your first card. You win from as little as two aces, but, if you are dealt four suited aces then you will win the mega jackpot which, at the time of writing this review, stands at over £115,000! What’s also great about this side bet, is that the jackpots are linked between all participating Genting casinos across the UK (32 at time of writing) which is why the jackpots reach life changing amounts. The 3 card poker is played from £5 and includes two side bets options.
There are around 8 roulette tables starting from 50p and £1. As usual the number of open tables depend on how busy it is. At the weekend these tables can become extremely crowded and they way 4 of the tables are laid out does mean the centre of the casino can become extremely congested and often see people playing on all four of the central tables. Obviously this is their choice to do so, but frequently we have seen people accidentally (but un-aggressively) knocked about. On the bright side, if you win on a good spin there will be more people to (hopefully) cheer for you!
|Three Card Poker||3||£2.00||£100.00|
Finally, there are is a large 90 seat poker tournament area open daily offering a range of game, from Freeroll with a £5 re-buy to £100 buy-in Quarterly Big Ones with a £10,000 guarantee. Games here usually start at 8.00pm except for Sunday where games start at 3.00pm and 8.00pm.
RESTAURANT AND BAR
This casino has a good sized bar offering a very wide range of drinks and every spirit/liquor you could want. They offer a good selection of cocktails, wines, beers and ciders on tap and bottle. The staff are usually friendly and do work hard, although at busy times you, naturally may have to wait a little while.
There bar and seating area covers an impressively large area showing sports on their HD TV wall, and also offering a range of live entertainment. For more information on What’s on at Reading, click here.
The bar also offers a range of quick and easy bites. You can view their drinks and bar food menu here.
As with many casinos, soft drinks and hot drinks are free when ordered from waiting staff at a table or a slot.
We have eaten a few times and always enjoy the food. The food is always of a good standard for the money you pay. Between the ‘big 2’ casino operators (Genting and Grovesnor) we always find the food in Genting to be better in terms of taste, choice, presentation and ambience etc. We haven’t eaten at any other Genting restaurants in the UK, but are aware they mostly all have a restaurant ‘Fahrenheit’ and so presume the menus are the same throughout.
We have always found the staff to be extremely friendly here with a real personal touch with natural people skills.
The restaurant is open daily between 7pm and 11pm, and 1am on weekends and you can view the restaurant menu here.
TO CONCLUDE …
Overall, a great medium sized casino with a good number of tables. At weekend evenings the table minimum are a little higher than some but this doesn’t stop the crowds.
The slots are pretty much what you would find in any 20 slot max casino. With two different multi-machine progressives this casino provides more options than some to try for one of the jackpots.
The casino is clean, well kept with great staff from serving staff, croupiers to the staff walking around asking sure everyone is happy. The staff really do add to the enjoyment of visiting this casino.
